The Big Dig

Mike took on digging out our front lawn, in order to put in a retaining wall and level out the yard a bit. Yup, he did it all with a pick ax and a shovel. It took quite a few weekends, but he did it!! Check out all of those rocks. Now we are ready to put the wall in. Another job well done!!

Connor's Baptism

Connor Edward's christening was today at St. Cecilia's church in Rockaway. It was a beautiful day and Connor was pretty well behaved through the whole thing. Matt, Melissa, and Danny were missed by all and I hope Danny is feeling better soon. Since Matt and Melissa are Connor's godparents, Brian and I had to step in for the day. It was a great honor and a day I will remember forever. God Bless Connor!!

Spring Cleaning?

The past two weekends have been busy at the Beattie house. Last weekend we installed a new dishwasher all by ourselves and this weekend we (mostly Mike) conquered the massive rhododendron!!

Old, loud, broken dishwahser...

Gone...gone...gone...

Check out the results! Mike did a fantastic job, and what do you know it cleans dishes too!!

For those of you who don't remember, the rhododendron is the massive bush to the right of our house. Pretty huge, huh? We found out from our neighbors that it was huge when they moved in 24 years ago, so it's one old bush! Too big and too close to the house though, so it had to go!

Mike did a great job chopping it down, while I clipped all the branches and prepared for bundling so the town will take it!

There it is, all bundled and ready to be taken away...

Look at what was left, that should be a piece of cake to remove right??????

WRONG!!! Mike spent the entire day on Sunday digging and chopping it out. But he did it!! Now, what do we do with it???

Danny Boy

This is a picture of Danny, Matt & Melissa's son, that Eddie took last weekend. And we just found out that Danny has a cousin named Connor who was born today! Congratulations Cris & Pat! Hopefully, we'll have some pics of him to add on soon! I now have 2 cousins once removed!

Happy Easter!

I have been told that this blog is pretty lame, hopefully this post will help recover it!!

My parents, Mike, and I took the ride up to Boston to spend Easter with Eddie and Carrie. What an adventure! The fun began about 20 minutes into the trip when we had much more than a flat tire. As you can see, the rubber rolled all the way down the hill on the side of the road. After a pretty quick tire change by Mike and my dad and a trip to a tire store for a new tire we were back on the road.

Once we arrived in Boston, we had a nice lunch and then the beautiful Lemon Meringue pie Carrie had made somehow fell out of the refrigerator and onto the floor. As you can see, some of it still got eaten after the mishap. Don't worry, Carrie and Eddie made another one on Sunday, and it was yummy!!

Happy Easter! Look at the beautiful breakfast table for easter morning, complete with colored eggs!

A cute shot of Eddie and mom before we went to church. Awwww, how cute in the matching pink shirts!
A pic of Carrie sitting outside the apartment as we waited for the boys to get back from the store. Yes, we thought it would be a great idea to drive home and let the boys walk, until we realized Eddie had the keys! It was such a nice day that we didn't mind a bit!
Our lovely hosts standing by their roast! What a great Easter feast! I am putting my reservations in for next year. It was a wonderful celebration and a great weekend to spend in Boston.
